I have been working on an EXCITING new project with gal pals and fellow PEI award-winning songwriters Meaghan Blanchard & Catherine MacLellan (a.k.aThe Eastern Belles). We had the pleasure of playing in Toronto at the Ontario Celebration Zone for the Pan Am Games in July. We were chosen to represent PEI which was quite an honour. This past winter, Meaghan, Catherine and I got together to do some writing and we were so delighted with that we came up with we decided to keep doing it. Here’s our first co-write called “Bend A Little” – a song about relationships and learning to give a little and take little.
I’m excited to share this new song with you that I wrote with David Francey called “In The Bright Tomorrow”. David and I both wanted to write an upbeat, fun song and something a little different from what we each normally write. It’s a new “old country” song and an homage to the American folk pioneers, The Carter Family! Check it out the video above that we recorded completely on our iPhones…cool eh?

So the good weather gods have sent me a beautiful blizzard on my 32nd birthday. As my honey says, “I’m sure you did come into this world like a storm”…haha! Thank-you all for the already overwhelming amount of blizzard birthday wishes. On my birthday, I would also like to share a special song with you that I wrote about my mom who exactly 32 years ago today was at the Pictou County hospital pacing the floors in hopes that I would arrive sooner then later. She is no longer with us, but her love and spirit live on…
“Betty’s Song” celebrates her strength as both a single mom and fisher lady. If you like it, feel free to throw a wee vote my way for the CBC Searchlight Competition (just click on the “VOTE” button below under the yellow and black box).
Thanks and lets get this birthday blizzard started! Frig.
p.s – don’t tell PEI that I was born in NS (shhhhhhhhh!)

Not too bad.
“This Great Compromise” nominated for Music PEI’s “Video of the Year”, directed by my friend Nils Ling.
I’m REALLY excited to present to you my OFFICIAL video for “This Great Compromise”. This song is special to me because it encompasses the feeling of loneliness when living apart from you loved one(s) due to economic reasons, a reality we all know too well here in Atlantic Canada. Please feel free to pass on…
I’m so excited and proud to release my sophmore album This Great Compromise into the world. It was produced by my very favourite songwriter in the ENTIRE world, three-time JUNO Award winner David Francey. His unparalleled musical sensibilities and passion for this project has been inspiring and I can’t think of a better fella to have helped me find a sonic home for these songs.
I was blessed to have been supported by some of the most gifted musicians in the country including Chris Coole, Mark Westberg, New Country Rehab fiddler John Showman and celebrated Maritime multi-instrumentalist Darren McMullen. Recording wizard, Ken Friesen, at Signal Path Studios engineered, mixed and mastered the newby.
I have some really exciting news! I just finished recording my new album called “This Great Compromise” produced by JUNO award winning singer/songwriter David Francey! (oh yah, that’s right). We are so close to “birthing” this baby into the world. Here’s how you can help get us the rest of the way there…
I won two awards this past week. Music PEI’s “New Artist Of The Year” and the “Lynn Grishko Memorial Award”. What a fantastic week filled with everything a singer/songwriter could ever want…A Song circle with two-time Juno award winner David Frencey, playing on the same stage as Lennie Gallant AND being recognized for many years of hard work with TWO awards.
I’ve been doing lots of writing these days and have enough little gems for a new album. Work on the album is commencing this winter with an anticipated fall 2012 release. I can’t wait to share these new tunes with the world. I think you are gonna dig em’
Okay. Stay tuned for more exciting news in the weeks to come!
