I won two awards this past week.  Music PEI’s “New Artist Of The Year” and the “Lynn Grishko Memorial Award”. What a fantastic week filled with everything a singer/songwriter could ever want…A Song circle with two-time Juno award winner David Frencey, playing on the same stage as Lennie Gallant AND being recognized for many years of hard work with TWO awards.

I’ve been doing lots of writing these days and have enough little gems for a new album. Work on the album is commencing this winter with an anticipated fall 2012 release. I can’t wait to share these new tunes with the world. I think you are gonna dig em’

Wow. Where does the time go eh? It was winter, then spring, and then spring and still spring… ha ha ha! This summer has been a busy one. I’ve been playing six nights a week at The Mack Theatre in Ch’town in a fantastic show called “Come All Ye”.  I know the name is kinda wierd, however, it’s one of the most exciting projects i have ever done. It’s all about PEI and what makes this little province so darn special.  Myself, Caroline Bernard, Mark Haines, John Connolly, Chas Guay and Patrick Ledwell are featured through-out singing songs, telling stories and having just about the most amount of fun possible onstage. I don’t want to give away too much…you’ll just have to come have a peek for yourself. It runs until August 27th and you can buy tickets here. I am getting ready for a little tour of Ontario for the fall and lots of other exciting things. Stay tuned for updates…

I’m hitting the road in a few weeks with Halifax singer/songwriter Ria Mae. We’ll be hitting up venues in NB, QC and ON from March 13-30. My new album “Come In From The Cold” is up for a Music Nova Scotia Award for COUNTRY RECORDING OF THE YEAR!

I’m trying really hard to be cool about this(as seen in photo), however, I’m actually UBER EXCITED!

Thanks to those fine folks who nominated me…and to the team of incredible people that helped me birth that baby into the world.  A big high five to Joel Hunt for his incredible talent as a producer, musician and friend. God love ya Joel!

So much coming up this month that I don’t even know where to begin. Lets start with you folks checking out my shows section and beholding the beauty.

My CD release Maritime tour was a HUGE success! Thank-you to all who shared your beautiful selves and laughed at my mildly witty and sometimes inappropriate stage bantering.  To those of you who baked me things like lemon poppy seed bisquits and let me sleep over, BIG HEARTS to you. High fives to my wonderful band too.  They were great! Thanks to Joel e. Hunt(Teresa Ennis, Old Man Leudecke), Rheo Rochon(Keith Hallett) and Peter Rioux(Joe Murphy And The Waterstreet Blues Band) for your incredible musicianship and patience

I still love quitting my job. Throwing all caution to the divine winds is proving to be just what the doctor ordered. I’ve been re-connecting with my spiritual self lately and have been reading some inspiring books. One of them is called: “Ruling Your World” by Sakyong Mipham.

I read this particularly poignant chapter last night about attracting auspiciousness. Mipham says: “A mind that knows it’s own depth can see the brilliant, elemental magic of the world”. To me, this means that when I stop to pay attention, there are divine messages always around me; lush and rich synchronicities to unfold. When I hear those little messages, I make decisions that lead me to where I’m supposed to be going and WAY cool things happen.  For example: I was having a kinda poo day and wanted to sit in my room and mope about it, however, a little voice inside said: “Ashley, just get up, put on some clean-ish clothes and see what the world has to offer you today”. So…I walked. I was lead down Spring Garden Rd. and into the library(mecca of FREE things).  I went up the stairs and left and…..Oh my deary! what is this?…. you can sign out CD’s at the library? The day was slowly improving.  I started to slowly sort through them.  Slow turned to brisk as I discovered dozens upon dozens of  CD’s that I really like,  Willy Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Aretha Frankin, Kate Rusby,  Martyn Joseph, Gram Parsons, RYAN’S FANCY, Gospel favorites, Waylon Jennings etc…I was now feeling closer to human.  I narrowed from 40 to 20 and trepidaciously made my way to the checkout counter, hoping she’d let me through. The lady smiled and said that they have removed the limit on the # of CD’’s you can take out. The day had now become fun! I wasn’t even mad when she said I had to pay my late fee of $7 in order to check them out. I left the library, dropped ALL my change in the case of a nearby busker and skipped down the street.  Moral of the story: If I had of stayed in my room sooking and sulking about my poo day then I would never have discovered that the library would give me awesome music for FREE!.  I would never have realized that my poo day was a cry from my soul to be out in the world and discover new music that inspires me.  I remembered that %90 of my job an artist is to keep my cup full on a daily basis, to take walks, give to buskers, talk to strangers, breathe, love, dance, eat “Bud The Spud” fries and listen for the magic around me.  The other %10 is to be disciplined enough to share those experiences with you so that you may attract a little auspicious goodness into your day.

It’s been a heck of a busy and rewarding few months here at Ashley Condon headquarters.

As most of you know, I have a new record coming out on June 15th called “Come In From The Cold”. I also turned 28 this year and realized that I don’t want to spend time doing things that I don’t want to do. Music is something I DO want to do and so, I have made a pact with the Universe. My pact is to pursue a musical career and life whole heartedly. To do this I’ve had no other choice but to, in the words of Old Man Leudecke, “Quit my job”. I am a bit freaked out. I won’t lie. The new album will be available for purchase on itunes and CD baby as well as in select local record stores on June 15th. I’d love to share my work with you in hopes that both you and the Universe could appreciate and own your own copy. It’s an authentic record created from my hard working energy and I’m having parties all over the Maritimes to celebrate its release. Here we go…..
